No, the above photo isn’t photoshopped. Chadwick students are getting ready for winter summer break to start next week, but are still very excited to see a little snow!

Congratulations to Faith Wheelock for winning the White River Valley Electric Cooperative 2013 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. Essay Contest!

It’s the 50th year that Missouri has participated in the youth tour and the second winner for Chadwick in the last five years.

Eleven schools  throughout the WRV’s five-county  service area were represented at a banquet at the Keeter Center on C of O campus. Each of the eleven semi-finalists received their choice of a Silver Dollar City season pass, a White Water season pass, or a gift certificate to the Tanger Outlet Mall.

Semi-finalists took an exam, presented their essays orally, and answered questions from a panel of judges.

After dinner, it was announced that Faith was one of three winners. (Branson’s Daniel Ramey and Forsyth’s Breanna House were the other two). Faith will spend a week in Washington D.C. in June with about 80 juniors from across Missouri and around 1200 others from across the United States.

In addition to making many new friends, she will visit the Lincoln Memorial, Ford’s Theatre, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, Mt. Vernon, the Smithsonian Museum, and more! The trip is all expenses paid and is sure to live up to it’s reputation as “the trip of a lifetime.”

On Friday, April 5, seventy Chadwick Elementary students attended a special performance of the Circus at JQH Arena in Springfield, Missouri.  Here are a few snapshots from the day!  The students brought sack lunches and were allowed to eat them during the circus.  It was a great day! Thank you to the Shrine Mosque for putting together a special performance just for local schools to attend! We look forward to attending again next year!

The Chadwick FFA will be holding their annual Labor and Pie Auction on Monday, April 1, at 6:30 pm. All proceeds from this auction will go towards FFA State and National Convention hotels, FFA events and programs, district and area dues, and program and banquet supplies.

Anyone interested in purchasing an FFA member for their labor skills to do some spring cleaning, please come!

We will also be having a dessert auction following the labor auction. Even if you don’t plan on purchasing a student or dessert, please come for moral support!

We will also be putting out buckets for a Penny for a Pie fundraiser. There will be one representative from each class and the advisor competing with each other to get a pie in the face. The person receiving the most votes will be the “lucky “winner!

Come support our FFA chapter so we can become an even more active chapter and open up new opportunities to our students!

On Monday, March 25, 2013, we will be hosting a family fun night for all elementary students and their younger siblings. The fun will begin at 5PM in the welcome center and will include several activities such as an Easter egg hunt, story time, and a craft.

The Spring Music Program will follow at 6:30PM.

On Friday, March 22, 2013, Chadwick School held the first annual Miss Chadwick Pageant.  School counselor and the reigning Miss Texas County Jeni Dixon, along with Miss Missouri State University Erica Cain, hosted the event crowing four local girls. 

Twenty-three girls competed in four categories according to age.  Hailey Farris was crowned Miss Chadwick, Susan Sims was crowned Young Miss Chadwick, Katie Sallee was crowned Little Miss Chadwick, and Gretchen House was crowned Tiny Miss Chadwick.

In addition, the following girls won a special award of Miss Photogenic: Ella Herd, Paisley Gilbert, Taylor Loveland, and Hailey Farris.

The MAP Committee promoted the pageant as a fund raiser for a trip to Silver Dollar City for all students who placed in the proficient or advanced levels of the Missouri Academic Progress (MAP) test.  Approximately $500 was raised.

The Class of 2014 will be hosting the 2nd Annual Chadwick Alumni All-Star Game on Friday, March 15, 2013.

There will be concessions available, including a $4 combo meal featuring two large slices of Casey’s pizza and a bottled drink.

The Chadwick Lady Cardinals will be playing in the Final Four at Columbia on Thursday, March 7 at 6:40PM at the Hearns Center.

There will be a community-wide pep rally on Tuesday, March 5, beginning with a chili supper at 5PM.
